Spooky season in Anaheim is about more than haunted rides and costumed characters. Once October hits, Anaheim and the surrounding communities fill the calendar with festivals, trick-or-treating, pumpkin patches, and other family-friendly seasonal fun. If you’re looking for Halloween Anaheim activities beyond the big theme parks, here are some ways to make the most of the season.

Celebrate at the Anaheim Fall Festival & Halloween Parade

For a classic hometown Halloween, head to downtown Anaheim on October 24 for the Anaheim Fall Festival. The free daytime celebration at Center Greens includes live entertainment, local vendors, costume contests, a scavenger hunt, and kids’ activities before the evening’s big Anaheim Halloween parade.

The parade is a longtime community tradition (it started in 1923!) celebrating Halloween, Día de los Muertos, and the harvest season. With over-the-top floats and costumes, plus plenty of local spirit, it’s a fun change of pace from a theme park Halloween.

Find More Family-Friendly Frights

Adventure City’s Boo-tastic Halloween Party is another excellent option for families with younger kids. On 10 select October nights, the park stays open from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. with nearly a dozen rides, a Halloween-themed train, Trick-or-Treat Street, a scavenger hunt, light show, Cosmic Vortex Tunnel, and dance party. Costumes are, of course, welcome. Like other Halloween events in Orange County, weekend nights sell out well in advance, so be sure to grab your tickets as early as possible.

Pick a Pumpkin in Orange County

For a daytime fall outing, schedule some classic pumpkin patch fun. Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch runs through October 31, with train and wagon rides, games, and other activities. Note this new change for 2026: reservations are now required on select weekends, with entry times available in one-hour blocks. Check the schedule before heading out.

Tanaka Farms in Irvine offers another seasonal favorite, with its Tanaka Pumpkin experience running through the fall. It’s a chance to get outside, pick a pumpkin, and enjoy the farm setting. If you’re searching for Halloween activities Orange County families and multi-generational groups can enjoy together, either makes a good addition to an Anaheim fall getaway.

Halloween at Disneyland® (Of Course!)

With so many other Halloween events in Anaheim beyond the parks, you can build an entire fall getaway without spending every day at the theme parks. However, Disney Halloween is beloved for a reason, so we suggest fitting it into your trip if possible. Halloween Time at Disneyland® runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, with its signature elaborate seasonal decor, themed attraction overlays, entertainment, and (our personal favorite!) limited-time food and merchandise. The separately ticketed, wildly popular Oogie Boogie Bash also returns to Disney California Adventure Park® on select nights.
